Summer is here!
We're full swing into summer now and we hope you're making the most of it. For Canadians across this country it's a great time of year; even if you love the winter sports, nothing compares to summer in Canada!
This is the time of year when the days are longer and warmer! Many of us will be going to the
lake or to the cottage, or camping with
family and having backyard BBQs with
friends.
This issue of balance we've assembled
a couple of recipes suitable for
summer and some tips for planning
a memorable vacation. We hope
you're enjoying the summer.
Classic Grilled Corn
For this classic summer delight, you'll grill
the corn right in the husk
What you'll need:
- 8 ears corn
- Kosher salt
- Herb Butter (recipe below)
- Heat the BBQ grill to medium.
- Prepare the corn on the cob:
- Pull the husks down to the base.
- Remove the silk from each ear
- Fold husks back into place
- Place the ears of corn in a large bowl of cold water
salted with 1 tablespoon of salt - 10 minutes. - Remove corn and shake off excess water.
- Place the corn on the grill & close the grill for 15 to
20 minutes - Turn every 5 minutes, or until kernels are tender
when pierced with a knife. - Remove the husks spread on the herb butter and ...
bon appetite! - Eat it right off the cob, or cut the kernels off first.
This is a delicious way to add some more flavour to
your butter.
What you'll need:
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs (basil, chives or
tarragon) - 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Combine in a food processor and process until
smooth. - The grill is such a fantastic way to prepare food
during the summer and a great way to get
together with friends and family.
