Spring Cleaning Solutions
Springtime is a refreshing time of renewal. This is the time of year when we put the long winter behind us. It's the time of year when we start spending more time outside. This is also the time of year when we tackle spring-cleaning chores around the home. Here are some useful tips to get started with the garage.
Setting up Storage Space
If you have to let everyone out of the car before you park it in the garage, then
spring-cleaning time could not have come too soon. Designate some space and clear out
the clutter. The improved layout will renew the space and increase its usefulness. First,
set up a recycling station and possibly a spare pantry for something like canned goods.
Bike Storage
Store your bikes in a place that will allow you easy access for the times when
you want to use them. If you have to 'dig them out', you're going to be less likely
to use them. Bikes can be suspended from support posts or rafters using
steel hooks.
Sports Equipment
If you have a garage full of sporting equipment like racquets,
roller blades and beach toys, then consider using storage chest
to keep the equipment organized and out of the way while
providing a perch for removing muddy boots.
Garden Furniture
For a lot of homeowners, our garages also serve as a storage place for our garden and patio furniture. After a Winter season in storage, you'll want to bring them out and give them a little bit of a cleaning.
Here's a basic recipe for a yard friendly cleaning solution that you can use.
- Mix 2 parts vinegar and 1 part baking soda
with 4 parts water. - Apply with a sponge, scour, and wipe away.
- Rinse the furniture down with the garden hose.
